Metamorphosis
Like all butterflies, Morpho butterflies undergo complete metamorphosis, transitioning from egg to larva (caterpillar), then to pupa (chrysalis), and finally to adult. The chrysalis stage is particularly fascinating as it often has a metallic, golden appearance.
Short Lifespan
Despite their beauty, Morpho butterflies have a relatively short lifespan, living only about 115 days from egg to adult. Most of this time is spent in the larval and pupal stages, with the adult butterfly living for about three weeks.
